Lotte Jakarta looks for $100m

By Doug Newhouse |

As expected, Lotte Duty Free opened a 5,500sq m downtown duty free pre-order store last Saturday in Jakarta, Indonesia.

Lotte’s new store is located on the fourth and fifth floors of the 130,000sq m ‘Ciputra World Mall 1’ in Jakarta where the company’s department store division operates a shopping mall and it is now targeting annual sales of around $100m from this duty free operation in three year’s time.

This store also compliments the giant retailer’s small duty free operation at Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (as exclusively reported in December 2011-Ed).

The company has since won business at Singapore Changi Airport which it has been operating since May 2012 and is hopeful of a future presence on the island of Bali in Indonesia.

The retailer is also looking at possible other airport locations in Indonesia, as exclusively revealed to The Business by Steve Park, Business Development Team Leader, Lotte Duty Free.
