LS Travel Retail opens So Chocolate at HKIA

By Charlotte Turner |

LS Travel Retail ASPAC has opened its third So Chocolate – a specially designed confectionery concept store exclusive to the retailer – this time at Hong Kong International Airport.

It was only last month that LS launched a second outlet in Changi Airport T3 and made enhancements to its T1 store to build customer penetration.

The company revealed plans for a ‘a facelift’ for its T1 store and the introduction of a Microsoft KinectTM Game Video Wall to attract more customers, following the earlier launch of a second So Chocolate concept in Changi Airport’s Terminal 3.

Cissy Chan, Executive Director, Commercial, Airport Authority Hong Kong said: “We are pleased to welcome the arrival of So Chocolate, an innovative confectionery concept by LS travel retail, further strengthening the shopping excitement at HKIA.”

‘INNOVATIVE DUTY FREE CONFECTIONERY CONCEPT’

The new 108sq m confectionery store is located in the North Satellite Concourse. “So Chocolate is one of the dedicated confectionery stores of its kind in HKIA, an extension of the successful confectionery concept that has demonstrated results and ground-breaking brands execution in two of its stores in Changi Airport, Singapore,” adds Chan.

Amy Kwong, General Manager of LS travel retail Hong Kong and Taiwan comments: “We are delighted to extend this innovative duty free confectionery concept in Hong Kong International Airport.

“Together with the wide network of Relay stores in Hong Kong, we firmly believe that So Chocolate adds to the addition to the overall portfolio of concepts in Hong Kong and the region.

“We aim to deliver a confectionery experience that is truly exciting, satisfying and memorable for the shoppers and commercially effective for our partners and ourselves.”

‘I LOVE HONG KONG’

Incorporating aspects from Changi’s So Chocolate, the new store encompasses brands like Valrhona, Neuhaus, Ferrero, Toblerone and local heroes including the full collection of Taste of Hong Kong.

According to the retailer, the highly personlised store design has dedicated zones laid out by category “from the gifting brands with strong promotional messages to destination category with ‘I love Hong Kong’ fittings,” says LS.

“As our footprint grows to include more innovative duty free concepts in Asia, we would like to introduce So Chocolate, LS’s confectionary concept which has been the culmination of many years in confectionery and essentially a new standard in standalone concept,” says Mr Emmanuel de Place, Chief Operating Officer, LS travel retail ASPAC.

“Since its first inauguration in Singapore, So Chocolate has received numerous awards for its high-class execution and personalisation of the key brands, which we see here today.

“We are also exceptionally proud that the store has been performing above its expectations and we hope that we can continue to deliver this new retail experience to the travellers, the brands and also HKIA.”
