Flemingo International has won a six-year convenience store and coffee concession at Senai Airport in Johor Baru, Malaysia.
The retailer will operate one coffee and convenience store outlet and another separate convenience outlet over a total area of 140sq m.
Senai Airport handled 1.5m passengers last year and numbers are said to be set to grow at a rate of 12% per year.
The new concession will be branded under the Xpress name, which was born out of the previous convenience store format Starter, which operates in Poland and Costa Rica.
BEST-IN-CLASS EXPERIENCE
Kartik Bhatt, Head of Xpress said: “We are thrilled to launch the Xpress brand with a concession in Senai Airport. We expect to deliver a best-in-class experience to the passengers through a curated range of merchandise and an invigorating store layout… aiming to make convenience shopping, a joyride.
“We plan to target 200-plus Xpress outlets by 2018 across emerging markets (SE Asia, Latam, Africa, Central Eastern Europe, etc) and this concession takes us one step closer to our vision 2B.BY 2020”.
Safuan Basir, Deputy CEO of Senai Airport, Johor Baru added: “Flemingo Group with its emerging market focus and diverse experience will bring in a new dimension to the airport.”
