Dufry doubles space and extends duty free contract in Cambodia

Switzerland-based global travel retailer, Dufry has taken its retail space to 1,670sq m meters at Phnom Penh and Siem Reap international airports in Cambodia – more than double what it had before. It has also been granted an extension to its contract to 2020.
Cambodia Airports made the award. It is 70% owned by France’s Vinci Airports through a public-private partnership with the Cambodian government and operates the two gateways [plus Sihanouk Airport]. Last year its three airports had traffic of 5.1m.
Emmanuel Menanteau, CEO of Cambodia Airports, comments: “Dufry put forth a compelling concept that will strengthen the unique sense of place at our airports. We look forward to harnessing our cooperation and know-how built over 12 years and taking the airports’ retail to the next level.”
WALK-THROUGH STORES COMING
The expansion will allow Dufry to deploy walk-through concepts to enhance the shopping experience and add a bigger products offer which will include more international brands in the beauty and fashion accessories segments.
Julian Diaz, CEO of Dufry Group, says: “The operations in Cambodia are a significant part of our global portfolio and the close proximity to China provides a solid basis for success.”
