Jewellery added to DFS Group’s Masters of Time in Macau

By Kevin Rozario |

Luxury travel retailer DFS Group is widening the remit of its annual Masters of Time exhibition by adding fine jewellery for the first time, an idea about which TRBusiness previously reported.

The sixth event will be held on 6 December at the T Galleria in Macau in the Shoppes at Four Seasons mall and will bring together over 400 fine watches and jewellery pieces from 40 prestigious brands (see list below). The collection – which DFS claims consists of “masterpieces” – will be exhibited in-store and available for sale until the end of February. It is said to be the world’s largest retail collection of fine watches and jewellery.

Philippe Schaus (left), Chairman and CEO of DFS Group, comments: “The 2014 collection features the latest innovations and designs in watchmaking. DFS continues to bring together the world’s most exceptional masterpieces, the masters that create them and leading industry experts into a singular experience under one roof.”

Highlights of the collection include: Bulgari’s Octo Finissimo Tourbillon (right); Jaquet Droz’s Bird Repeater Openwork; Van Cleef & Arpels’ Midnight Planétarium Poetic Complication; Christophe Claret’s Margot; and Vacheron Constantin’s Métiers d’Art Florilége Collection.

To complement the exhibition, three experts within their fields, will give their unique perspective on time and luxury. One of them is Benjamin Clymer (left), the founder and Executive Editor of men’s luxury watch website, Hodinkee.com. He says: “I’m simply blown away by the range of pieces DFS has assembled for this collection. Watches of this calibre are rarely if ever found in the same place at the same time.”

FINE JEWELLERY DEBUT

On the jewellery side, DFS has used the services of jewellery historian and contributing editor for the Financial Times’ How to Spend It magazine, Vivienne Becker (right), to help curate the collection.

Highlights include: Bulgari’s illuminating Diva collection necklace, bracelet and earrings in 18kt white gold with pave diamonds; Chopard’s Haute Joaillerie cinema-inspired Red Carpet collection; Tiffany’s brilliant Marquise Diamond Cluster necklace (below) set with 325 diamonds, and bracelet set with 135 diamonds in platinum.
