As East Midlands Airport undergoes a £12m terminal redevelopment, it says it expects more than 280,000 passengers to travel through the airport during the Easter holiday period between 4 – 28 April; a growth of almost 10% compared to 259,000 passengers in 2013.

 

The terminal redevelopment is progressing well and aims to make the passenger journey and experience, ‘as simple and efficient as possible’. A new security hall was opened in December last year and a brand new food court was revealed in February. Completion is expected by the end of 2014.

 

The operator estimated that over the Easter weekend, that around 45,000 passengers would pass through the terminal doors, a growth of 5.4% compared to the Easter weekend in 2013.

 

 

April marks the start of the summer holiday period with new routes on offer from East Midlands this year. Ryanair have launched flights to Cork in Ireland, whilst Budapest in Hungary and Paris in France, are new for Jet2.com.
