Edinburgh Airport stages Whisky Festival

By Charlotte Turner |

During the build-up to the Ryder Cup – when Scottish Airports expect a significant surge in passenger traffic – Edinburgh Airport is staging a unique whisky festival, showcasing the ‘Scottish Selection’.

In partnership with World Duty Free and food and beverage provider Delaware North the airport will see its resident chefs create new dishes and cocktails using exclusive Auchentoshan single malt Scotch whiskies.

Scottish classics such as haggis, neeps and tatties, or venison, both served with an Auchentoshan whisky sauce, are available at ‘The Gathering’ restaurant at the Airport.

World Duty Free will be offering a range of classic malts like Auchentoshan and Glenmorangie, and travel exclusives that aren’t available on the UK high street. One such example is the 40-year-old Brora priced at just under £7,000.

AUCHENTOSHAN BAR

“World Duty Free has opened a fantastic Auchentoshan bar offering a selection of tastings and invites passengers to discover more about this renowned single malt Scotch whisky,” says the Scottish Airport.

Richard Townsend, Head of Retail and Property at Edinburgh Airport, said: “We’re proud to be working with our partners at Auchentoshan, Delaware North and World Duty Free to launch this amazing celebration of one of Scotland’s most famous products.

“Scotch whisky is renowned the world over and we want our passengers to be at the heart of our new festival. With the Edinburgh Fringe well underway and the Ryder Cup just around the corner, we’re expecting millions of people to be travelling through our airport over the few months.

“Whisky is the perfect gift to take home to relatives or treat yourself with so why not stop off at our World Duty Free store and browse all that we have to offer or have a chat with their expert staff to help you find the ideal malt.”
