Keflavík pilot to boost non-aero revenue with Concessionaire Analyzer+

By Kevin Rozario |

Iceland’s main gateway, Keflavík International Airport (KEF) is starting a pilot project in the coming weeks to bump up its non-aeronautical revenue.

Operator Isavia is teaming up with has selected Malta-based Concessionaire Analyzer+ (CA+) to control, manage and boost their non-aeronautical revenues, starting with three shops initially but aiming to deploy the system to all concessions in early in 2015.

The CA+ project at Keflavík coincides with the airport’s increasing international passenger numbers and the many changes taking place in retail and F&B outlets where contracts are up for renewal by the end of this year.

Using CA+, Isavia will collect transactional sales data in real time using CA+ Capture (software installed on concessionaires’ points-of-sale) which automatically amasses the data with no intervention – or by allowing submission by concessionaires via the web.

Analysis of sales patterns and the delivery of business intelligence (BI) is designed to assist in better managing tenant agreements and automatic revenue/billing. Full implementation would involve bringing all concessionaires and revenue sources – including retail, F&B, car parking, advertising and property leasing – on board to holistically manage the entire non-aeronautical sector.

Concessionaires will be given limited access to the BI portal so that they, too, will be able to analyse their own sales in comparison to airport statistics such as passenger numbers and benchmarks for particular concession categories.

“We believe that the implementation of CA+ at Keflavik can provide a significant advantage,” says Hlynur Sigurðsson (left) Terminal Director at Keflavik Airport. “It will support our commercial teams and provide us with the tools to analyse sales and revenue patterns, and improve decision-making based on real time insight.”

John de Giorgio, CEO of Concessionaire Analyzer+ comments: “CA+ is gaining ground in airports of all scales and across all geographies.”

Passenger numbers at KEF amounted to 3.2m in 2013, a +16% increase on the previous year and the airport estimates that traffic will reach 6m by 2020.
