Kraków Airport issues 17 commercial tender packages

By Charlotte Turner |

Kraków Airport has issued 17 commercial tender packages, covering retail, service and catering, at its new passenger terminal as part of an ambitious extension programme. LS Travel Retail’s Aelia duty free and Relay retail brands currently feature at the airport’s T1 and T2.

The Polish airport operator is now looking for operators for duty-free shops, as well as stores offering regional products, souvenirs, clothes and accessories, jewellery, watches, glasses, beauty products, food and press at its new passenger terminal.

Kraków Airport is also looking for operators in financial services, those who can offer cashpoints, car rental services and a travel agency.

Bidding procedures will be published at www.krakowairport.pl – successively between December 2014 and January 2015. The planned commercial operations will be launched successively between July 2015 and January 2016.

According to the airport’s in-depth tender document, bidders are advised to submit written bids to the head office of Międzynarodowy Port Lotniczy (MPL) who is co-managing the tender process for Kraków Airport.

Bids for tenders H7, H8 and H14 need to be submitted by 19 January 2015, 12am and for tenders H1, H2, H3, H4, H5, H6, H9, H10, H11, H12, H13, H15, S1 and S2 the deadline for submission is 16 February 2015 at 3pm.

Out of the bids which meet the formal requirements, MPL will select the most ‘advantageous’ bid, taking into account the following criteria: price (weight 80%) and business concept with experience (weight 20%).

The price includes MPL’s net income from commission indicated by the bidder and the minimum guaranteed annual fee (MAG).

Kraków Airport claims that serving 3.7m passengers a year makes it the leader among regional airports in Poland. In cooperation with 15 airlines, the airport offered 66 regular flights to 20 countries and 16 charter flights in the summer of 2014.

On top of point-to-point flights, a wide range of transit flights through Frankfurt and Munich (Lufthansa), Berlin (Airberlin), Helsinki (Finnar) and Vienna (Austrian Airlines) are available.
