Delhi Duty Free Services set to top €100m in 2014
By Kevin Rozario |
Aer Rianta International, one of three joint venture owners of Delhi Duty Free Services (DDFS), says that the retailer’s sales revenues should grow by at least +12% this year, to exceed €100m ($140m).
The bullish year-on-year growth forecast comes as DDFS achieved its highest ever monthly sale figure of $11.5m in December 2013. ARI says: “Core categories have performed ahead of target with liquor, P&C and fashion recording double-digit growth.”
A new ‘Shop and Collect’ service, enabling passengers to buy before their outward journey and collect their purchases on return, has also grown by more than +50% over last year.
DDFS now has 4,380sq m at T3 of having opened in August 2010 with about 3,500 sq metres of retail space: 1,500sq m in arrivals and 2,000sq m in departures.
ARI itself is a subsidiary of Irish airport operator DAA. In 2012 the international division generated a profit of €27.4m ($37.8m) from revenue of €1.4bn (source: TRBusiness: The World’s Top 10 Operators 2013).
