Mumbai Port Trust tenders cruise duty free store

By Kevin Rozario |

The Mumbai Port Trust has issued a tender to establish a 100sq m duty free store at Mumbai International Cruise Terminal – with submissions required by 3pm on 19 September.

The cruise terminal has been seeing increasing numbers of cruise vessels. In the seasons from 2008/09 until 2013/14 [roughly from September/October to June] international cruise liner calls have been as follows: 29, 36, 43, 43, 38 and 40.

MPT says that in the current and 2015/16 seasons cruise calls are expected to be 39 and 40 respectively.

The trust says: “The facility of a duty free shop is not only essentially required for passengers/tourists of international cruise vessels but also for the crews of the foreign vessels. It is therefore proposed to provide this facility in the cruise terminal.”

The contract for the licence to run the shop – which will be on the mezzanine floor of Mumbai International Cruise Terminal – is set at just 11 months but renewable for two more term of 11 months each under the same terms and conditions and at the discretion of MPT.
