GuestLogix Inc, the leading global provider of onboard retail and payment technology solutions to airlines and the passenger travel industry, has finalised an agreement for the fleet-wide deployment of its onboard retail technology platform including POS handheld devices to manage the onboard retail operations for UK-based carrier, Flybe.

GuestLogix’ onboard retailing technology has been implemented to enable secure credit card acceptance onboard for the purchase of food and beverage, duty free, as well as gift and fragrance product offerings. This five-year agreement with Flybe further strengthens GuestLogix’ partnership with travel industry caterer, Skytrac Group, and is the latest of several joint implementations.

With the addition of Flybe, GuestLogix and Skytrac welcome their first airline customer under this partnership, having previously deployed GuestLogix’ technology onboard rail customers, First TransPennine Express and First ScotRail.

“This agreement with Flybe signifies the value of building strategic partnerships in the passenger travel industry,” said Brett Proud, President & CEO of GuestLogix.  “Our Company’s growth strategy has placed emphasis on expanding our European footprint, as well as building a greater presence in the rail sector.  Our partnership with Skytrac has led to growth in each of these categories, and we look forward to further collaboration as we continue to develop our customer base in Europe.”

Flybe has been equipped with GuestLogix’ PCI-compliant handheld POS devices to accept major credit cards for the purchase of food and beverage, as well as gifts and fragrances, onboard flights to 65 European destinations.  Secure payment processing for the purchase of duty free items is also available onboard flights outside of the European Union.  The GuestLogix platform was chosen to improve the onboard service and performance of Flybe and its crew, as well as to identify areas of improvement that may lead to increased ancillary revenue generation.

“Flybe was looking for a complete, outsourced catering and onboard retailing solution that would enable them to focus on what they do best – safely transporting passengers,” said David Towes, IT and Communications Director, Skytrac Group.  “Our main aim at Skytrac is to provide a comprehensive range of branded, bespoke products and services through a highly efficient logistical network.  GuestLogix is a key member of our network, providing the most robust onboard retailing technology, and together, we will improve the onboard performance of travel operators, such as Flybe, for years to come.”
