Israel Assa new SVP/GM GTR at Lauder

The Estée Lauder Companies has promoted Israel Assa to the position of Senior Vice President/General Manager Travel Retail Worldwide, effective July 1, 2014.
The company says that Israel will succeed René Frion who is relocating to London to join the UK & Ireland region as Vice President, General Manager Aramis and Designer Fragrances, Bumble and bumble, Ojon, and Smashbox.
The beauty company said that Israel Assa joined Lauder’s Travel Retail Division back in August of 2001, as Director of Marketing for Aramis and Designer Fragrances, Origins, Bumble and Bumble and La Mer. He was subsequently appointed Executive Director in January 2002, adding Jo Malone London and Stila to his brand oversight.
In September 2005, he was promoted to Vice President, adding BeautyBank to his responsibilities. Since 2006, he has been the Vice President/General Manager, Travel Retail Americas, where the company says he has contributed significantly to the success of the business in North America, South America and the Caribbean
“With his excellent creative and analytical skills, coupled with his global travel retail marketing experience and strong leadership skills, Israel is the perfect candidate for this key role”, said Olivier Bottrie, President, Travel Retail Worldwide (see top image). Israel holds an MBA from New York University and a BA in International Studies from The University of Michigan, Ann Arbor.
Meanwhile, the company also thanked René Frion (above) for his successful tenure in travel retail, where he led initiatives for the Europe, Middle East, and Africa region and the Estée Lauder and Tom Ford Beauty brands on a worldwide basis.
