Deux Champagne par Nicolas Feuillatte

By Caroline Sargent |

Nicolas Feuillatte will be toasting its two new Champagnes at the TFWA World Exhibition in October: the X’Ploration collection and a 2004 vintage of its fine Palmes d’Or Brut blend.

A delicate, structured and fruity Champagne, offering ‘boundless elegance and finesse’, the Brut Réserve is pale yellow in colour with silver tinges, and gives fresh white fruit aromas of apple, pear and peach intermingled with Asian spices.

Using the tagline ‘Epernay, New York, Beyond’, the campaign for X’Ploration by Nicolas Feuillatte ‘evokes the journey of the senses at the heart of each tasting experience’, and is backed by a series of powerful images encapsulating the idea of wanderlust, including the planets and stars, airplanes in flight, beach scenes and the brand’s compass logo.

A limited edition release, the X’Ploration Brut Réserve collection is offered in either gold or black sleeves, along with gold and black gift tins, a duffle bag and a choice of ice buckets, also available in pink.

A vintage year

Only produced following exceptional harvests, the latest Palmes d’Or vintage from Nicolas Feuillatte blends the finest Champagne Crus of Chardonnay (Chouilly, Cramant, Oger, Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, Avize and Montgueux) and Pinot Noir (Bouzy, Verzy, Verzenay, Aÿ and Ambonnay), which have been ‘elevated to noble status by meticulous élevage and ageing’ – Palmes d’Or Brut is aged for a minimum of nine years, affording it a complex and distinguished structure.

This prestige cuvee has a bright, perfectly clear appearance, the shade of tarnished gold, and a bouquet of delicate cinnamon loaf spices and vanilla cream. Aromas of pine cones or sandalwood come and go while peony notes blossom and flourish, gradually replaced by preserved lemon rind. Mature and generous on the palate, the finish is long and lingering showing excellent balance.
