Lab Series Age Rescue+ goes high-tech with Jawbone

By Kevin Rozario |

In time for the busy Christmas season the Lab Series franchise from Aramis has developed Age Rescue+ Water-Charged Gel Cream for men – and has tied up with wearable technology company, Jawbone, to promote the benefits of wellbeing in general.

The new product is said to deliver “an extremely sensorial burst of hydration to the skin” and with the added ingredient of energising ginseng, the blue gel cream is claimed to hydrate the skin for up to 24 hours by using water-encapsulated silicone.

Parent group Estée Lauder Companies describes the effect as a “double burst” sensation. The first burst refers to the non-greasy absorption into the skin and after 6-8 seconds, there is a second sensation from the cooling water.

“This formula and texture is a new innovation for The Estée Lauder Companies,” explains Justina Mejia, Executive Director, Product Development, Lab Series Skincare for Men. “We identified that a water-in-silicone formula structure would deliver an optimal moisture barrier that could sustain the gruelling activity of a man.”

The product contains Hydra Burst Complex, a blend of humectants, polymers and natural conditioning factors to help provide immediate hydration by attracting moisture to the skin’s surface and maintain it there.  Lab Series says: “Over time, nourishing moisturisers in the formula help diminish the signs of ageing.”

The new product, priced at £45/€58 in local European markets, is currently available at travel retail locations in the Americas and Asia Pacific.

PROMOTING GENERAL WELLBEING

Because healthy skin is driven by many factors including sleep, diet and activity, Lab Series has also tied up with Jawbone, maker of the Up wristband and app which helps people understand how they sleep, move and eat in order to live better.

Lab Series has encouraged men to join the worldwide Lab Series x Up Challenge to learn how everyday choices from sleep to hydration can affect overall well-being – including how skin looks. From 1 October to 30 November 2014, men from different countries around the world were able to sign up at www.labseries.com (see above) and compete against those from other countries in a challenge to collectively take the most steps, get the greatest amount of sleep, and be the most hydrated – all tracked by the Up system. As part of the collaboration, Lab Series is offering skincare tips via the Up system to people who are in the challenge.

“Through our unique Insight Engine, we are able to deliver personalised information in real-time,” says Travis Bogard (left), Vice President of Product Management and Strategy at Jawbone. “This collaboration allows men to track activity, sleep, and nutrition, and combine that with research provided by Lab Series to help them improve their skin’s appearance and lifestyle. So if you didn’t get enough sleep last night, our Insight Engine can illustrate how too little sleep affects your skin over time and make suggestions to help you change behaviour to address that.”
