Marlboro launches Chinese Special Edition pack with Qatar Duty Free

By Charlotte Turner |

Philip Morris International Duty Free (“PMI DF”) launched a 2014 limited edition pack in Doha International Airport targeted at the growing influx of Chinese legal age smokers, says the brand.

As a follow-up to the Marlboro Chinese New Year limited edition pack in 2013, PMI DF and Qatar Duty Free teamed up to offer this new product to the ‘heavily rising number of Chinese legal age smokers passing through Doha Airport’.

Once again, Qatar Duty Free created a dedicated Chinese ‘New Year’ area to mark the occasion in Doha Airport, with the new Marlboro limited edition pack taking pride of place with specifically designed product displays.

“The pack – wrapped in an innovative and attractive envelope packaging – was positioned as the ideal purchase for legal-age smokers looking for a mix of innovation, exclusivity, and a clear differentiation to products available in their domestic markets,” says Marlboro.

The release of the limited edition pack also coincided with a phase of higher purchasing from Europeans due to the conclusion of the Christmas and New Year period.
