China Duty Free Group (CDFG) makes price promise for first Cambodian store at Angkor

By Kevin Rozario |

China Duty Free Group will open its first location in the Cambodian market at Angkor, one of the most important archaeological locations in South-East Asia, and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, at the end of the month.

It is claimed to be the most luxurious department store in the country and will offer retail prices “no higher than Hong Kong and Thailand duty free” says CDFG.

The 4,500sq m Angkor Duty Free Store is the first downtown duty free shop in Cambodia and is being developed by China Duty Free Group (Cambodia) Co., Ltd with a grand opening set for 30 December. CDFG says that its retail prices will be 15% to 35% lower than downtown duty paid prices.

SECOND STORE NEXT YEAR

The company is also planning another duty free store in Phnom Penh in October 2015.

The Angkor store will offer a full range of categories from beauty and fashion; jewellery, sunglasses and watches; to liquor, tobacco and confectionery, plus local products. CDFC expects to have more than 200 international brands available including Bally, Burberry, Dior, Estée Lauder, Lancôme, SK II, Shiseido, Tissot and Rado.

CDFG says that to ensure high service levels it is currently using experienced professionals from all over greater China (including Beijing, Hong Kong and Macau) to train its staff.

SUPPORT FROM LOCAL TRAVEL AGENCIES

In a statement the company adds: “Since we have strong support from our mother company, CITS Group, CDFG Cambodia has built up a close relationship with international and local travel agencies.”

To celebrate the opening as well as the international New Year, Chinese New Year, and Khmer New Year, the Angkor Duty Free Store will offer special promotions to customers.
