Ever Rich Duty Free develops online sales

By Kevin Rozario |

Taiwanese duty free and travel retailer, Ever Rich Duty Free, has opened up a new chapter in its retail business by moving online as part of a multi-channel approach.

The company has launched the Go Rich website ( http://www.go-rich.com.tw/ ) which gives consumers across Asia access to Taiwanese specialties. Initially in Chinese, the website (below) will eventually be made available in more languages.

The group comments: “We believe that more than 50% of purchases made by customers will involve interactions in two channels or more in the coming years. In that case, e-commerce is definitely the superstar that every brand and corporation should work on right now.”

Ever Rich believes it can tap into a wider consumer base by providing potential shoppers with what they want at the right time, and through the channels they prefer, such as mobile devices and computers.

A NEW DUTY FREE BATTLEFIELD

The company says that online sales will be “the new battlefield of duty free shopping”. At launch, customers across Asia can order Taiwanese specialties such as pineapple cake, oolong tea, and many other products which Ever Rich will deliver direct to their address within two days (see table).

If the service in Asia, in the first phrase, is successful, Ever Rich has hinted that it will widen its geographical coverage but no timescale was given.
