Lagardère Travel Retail (LTR) has opened a new 25sq m M·A·C Cosmetics store in Cairns Airport T2 in Queensland, representing the retailer’s third airport store presence for the brand in the Pacific Region.
The travel retailer says that the new branded cosmetics outlet is designed to ‘capture both the international and domestic passengers in Cairns’, with its contemporary stylish design and layout.
The new store is ‘committed to the art of makeup’ and will feature not only the core M·A·C range, but also its skincare, fragrance and application tools. M·A·C’s trademark in-store services from its qualified and experienced makeup artists will also be featured, along with instant touch-up services for passengers in a hurry.
Commenting on the new opening, LTR CEO for the Pacific region Matthieu Mercier remarked that the opportunity to bring M·A·C to Cairns Airport is exciting: “M·A·C is the perfect addition to add to our collection of flourishing brands in Cairns Airport,” said Mercier. “Cairns Airport share our vision for innovative thinking, so bringing M·A·C to the passengers travelling through their airport brings this vision to life.”
Adding her comments, Cairns Airport GM Commercial, Fiona Ward, welcomes this exciting addition to the T2 retail offer. “There has been great anticipation in the Cairns community around the arrival of M·A·C and we are pleased to offer our passengers and other airport guests access to this popular, quality cosmetics brand.
STRONG PARTNERSHIP
“The launch of the M·A·C store further strengthens our successful partnership with Lagardère Travel Retail who operate multiple retail stores across both our terminals.”
Lagardère Travel Retail’s Pacific region division also operates M·A·C locations within Auckland Airport in New Zealand and also at Australia’s Gold Coast Airport.
In the rolling 12 months ending March 2016, Cairns Airport handled a total of 575,960 (+18%) international passengers thriough Terminal 1 and further 3.8m domestic route passengers through both T1 and T2.
Last March – the lastest month for which statistics are available – Terminal 1 also set a new all-time monthly growth record, up 45%. This was a 23,000 increase of international, domestic and transit passengers, according to Cairns Airport.
GOOD PASSENGER GROWTH
Pointing to further growth, the airport said that in terms of international growth, the Japanese market continues to grow as Australia’s popularity increases, while the China market has benefited from sustained services by China Eastern and the new Hong Kong Airlines flights.
