Shirt-maker 3 Wise Men scoops AKL top retail award

New Zealand’s busiest airport, Auckland International (AKL), has given its annual Retailer of the Year Award to shirt-maker and menswear store 3 Wise Men, which has a retail unit in the domestic terminal.
According to Richard Barker, General Manager – Retail and Commercial at the airport, 3 Wise Men has excelled in its efforts to understand the customers, develop creative promotions and provide outstanding customer service. He adds: “They’ve experienced some terrific sales growth in the past year as a result of that and we are delighted to award them the retailer of the year.”
A special General Manager’s Retail Achievement Award went to Yoon Song, the owner and founder of TravelPharm. Yoon was described by Barker as “inspirational in driving the phenomenal growth of his business at the airport, tapping into the needs of many of our overseas visitors to provide health and wellbeing products”.
Other retail awards this year were as follows:
– Best Food and Beverage Retailer, International Terminal – Flight Bar
– Best Specialty Major Retailer, International Terminal – TravelPharm
– Best Specialty Boutique Retailer, International Terminal – Walker & Hall
– Best Food and Beverage Retailer, Domestic Terminal – Hayama
– Best Specialty Retailer, Domestic Terminal – 3 Wise Men
– Customer Service Excellence, International/Domestic Terminal – Aelia Duty Free
– Marketing Initiatives – Icebreaker
– General Manager’s Retail Achievement – Yoon Song, TravelPharm
– Most Valued Player Award – Angela Akai/The Loop and Darryl Church/Retro Espresso.
Barker adds: “For the past 12 months our focus has been to enhance customer choice by improving the range of commercial products on offer for passengers. This has resulted in a record-breaking year in retail income.”
