Coindrum rolls with the change at Faro Airport

LFP Lojas Francas de Portugal has partnered with the Coindrum company at Faro Airport to attract UK passengers to its convenient and instant Euro coin exchange service.
UK passengers are now able to deposit all unwanted Euro coins in exchange for an extra 10% free shopping credit on the deposited value, with this credit refundable in LFP’s shops as part payment for duty free and tax free goods.
UK HOLIDAYMAKERS ARE PRIME TARGET
The retailer is a joint venture between Dufry/Nuance and the national airline TAP, with this new service implemented to coincide directly with the main tourist season, where UK holidaymakers are a major customer nationality.
The Coindrum company adds that this helps to increase retail spending by encouragin users to obtain their benefit by visiting the duty free shops.
José Rosa, Managing Director of Lojas Francas de Portugal said: “The new Coindrum service is a great offer for passengers to dispose of their unwanted coins, whilst getting more value for their money. Beyond solving an inconvenience the service will also get more people to start browsing the LFP retail offerings.”
The Coindrum company adds that the momentum behind the business remains ‘high’ since the initiative was launched with Dufry at Milan. It adds that in this location the unit is primarily used by non-Schengen passengers.
BEST IDEAS ARE OFTEN THE SIMPLEST
Coindrum founder and CEO Lukas Decker said he is pleased with this latest development as he was joined by Ms. Katie Morrisroe, the Deputy Head of Mission & Consul at the Irish Embassy in Portugal for the launch celebration at Faro Airport.
The Irish government is amongst the financial backers of Coindrum, which also includes industry heavyweights such as the founders of Ryanair, Hostelworld and CarTrawler.
Morrisroe commented: “We are proud to support an Irish innovation that is on a clear trajectory to international success. Coindrum is a simple solution with big impact for travel retailers around the world.”
