Fitness classes support Breast Cancer campaign
By Doug Newhouse |
The Estée Lauder Companies has teamed up with Heathrow Airport T2 to invite passengers passing through the facility today to join in fitness classes to support the first day of this year’s Breast Cancer Awareness (BCA) Campaign.
Russell Bateman, the founder of the ‘Skinny Bitch Collective (SBC)’ is in charge sharing his strengthening and empowering movement exercises, while the House of Voga is offering a Yoga and ‘Vogueing’ fusion comprising stretching and posing to an eighties beat.
Just for good measure, Zumba Fitness instructors are also adding their low and high-intensity moves to provide interval-style, calorie-burning, while the iconic limited edition Estée Lauder Pink Ribbon Products will be available at World Duty Free stores at Heathrow Airport.
Today’s event is taking place directly underneath Richard Wilson’s Slipstream artwork, where more than 6.2m passengers exercise themselves to take 41,481 flights every day. The event is also being complimented by a 90ft pink ribbon adorning the Terminal building windows throughout this month of October.
As reported, the 2015 Estée Lauder Companies BCA Campaign is empowering women, men and families around the world to take action to help defeat breast cancer through the universal call-to-action ‘Every Action Counts. What’s Yours?’.
The BCA Campaign invites people to share all the meaningful ways they take action on BCAcampaign.com and social media channels, and support life saving breast cancer research by making a donation to the Breast Cancer Research Foundation® (BCRF).
For every action reported and submitted to BCAcampaign.com or unique post on Instagram or Twitter with #BCAstrength between October 1, 2015 and World Cancer Day on February 4, 2016, The Estée Lauder Companies will donate $25 to fund a half-hour of breast cancer research through BCRF, with the goal of funding up to 500 research hours ($25,000) through the support of the global digital community.
Meanwhile, Cancer Research UK says that an analysis combining the results of 31 studies on physical activity and breast cancer found that the women who did the most activity had a 12% lower risk of developing breast cancer compared with the least active women. Taking this and other recommendations into consideration the event aims to raise awareness of a healthy lifestyle to travellers.
