World Cup shop touches down in Dublin Airport

By Doug Newhouse |

The very first official 54sq m Ireland Rugby World Cup store opened at Dublin Airport in The Loop within Terminal 1 this week.

Dublin Airport management says the new shop stocks ‘an impressive selection’ of Irish Rugby branded clothing, including men’s and ladies leisure wear, plus gifts and souvenirs.

Commenting on the opening, a ‘delighted’ Jackie McDonagh, ARI’s Head of Retail at Dublin Airport said: “An estimated 70,000 World Cup tickets have been sold in Ireland, so we’re expecting lots of fans to travel to the UK for the games. Supporters can stock up on all the latest official Rugby World Cup merchandise before they fly.”

“The new outlet is a great addition to The Loop and complements the recently revamped shopping area. We have plans to bring the Official Rugby Cup store to T2 in September,” she added.

For uninitiated, the Rugby World Cup opens on Friday, September 18 at 8pm, with England versus Fiji at London’s Twickenham Stadium and Ireland versus Canada in their opening match at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium on the following day.

Other Ireland fixtures include Romania at London’s Wembley Stadium on Sunday, September 27; Italy at the London Olympic Stadium on Sunday, October 4; and France in the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff on Sunday, October 11.

Not surprisingly, ARI confirms that all of these matches will be televised live in Dublin Airport’s T1 and T2 facilities.
