Delhi Duty Free Services, the operator that runs India’s largest duty free and travel retail space at T3 of Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (DEL) has launch a new campaign called Diwali Delights’ in advance of the Hindu religious festival that starts on 11 November.
Diwali, or the festival of lights, runs for five days but DDFS is running its promotion for a month, highlighting a range of gifting ideas across all categories with free gifts and offers and guaranteed discount vouchers of up to 20% on spending of $151 or more. DDFS is decorating its shops with a gold theme, synonymous with the festival.
Abhijit Das, Head Marketing at DDFS, says: “For thousands of people, Diwali will start at the airport (with) Diwali Delights. The concept of this campaign came from the idea of delighting consumers with our duty free offers and letting them experience the warmth of festival shopping.
“We aim to make consumers aware that DDFS is a one-stop shop for their desired products, made available at the best price.”
During the next month 100 lucky customers will win a 3g gold coin each when buying Johnnie Walker products worth $50; others can win several iPhone 6s by buying Highland Park whisky; or take part in a promotion [started in April] to win a BMW GT 320D, with 13 winners already announced.
PRICE COMPETITION VS OTHER AIRPORTS
The campaign coincides with big launches and new arrivals like Boss The Scent, the latest perfume from Dior, plus new arrivals in premium liquor.
DDFS says that it will offer savings up to 60% on liquor purchases compared to downtown and a flat 30% off selected perfumes and cosmetic brands. The retailer has also been running a concerted value-led campaign against international duty free competitors such as Dubai Duty Free, to underline its keen pricing.
