It’s ‘Go Duty Free’ for Flemingo at nine Indian airports

Flemingo Duty Free, subsidiary of Flemingo International has unveiled its recently refreshed retail fascia ‘GO Duty free’ at Anna International Airport in Chennai where it has been operating since 2007. The shops were inaugurated by Mr Deepak Shastri, the Airport Director for Chennai International Airport.
This follows the company’s win of nine duty free airport concessions in India in January this year, which included the seven-year extension of Flemingo’s Chennai contract.
Chennai Airport handles over 5m international passengers a year and has seen growth of 6% year-on-year.
Flemingo says that early customer reaction has been ‘very positive’, reflected in the 70% sales increase on last year and increased footfall. The size of the arrivals store is about 2,300sq ft and the departures store is about 3,300sq ft.
The stores offer a wide range of products across liquor, tobacco, confectionery, perfume, cosmetics and watches and have video screens at strategic points displaying product videos and promotions to encourage walk-ins.
These new stores have more space compared to earlier facilities, says Flemingo which also reveals that it will be upgrading all of its other Indian stores to display the same ‘Go Duty Free’ fascia.
“We are committed to giving first class customer service,” said Vivek Bhat, CEO of Flemingo Duty Free India.
“And now we have the range and the space to delight customers further. Support from the India Airport Authority and our initiatives in travel retail will give the customer a reason to buy more duty free in India. We have and will continue to expand our portfolio and offer new ranges to travellers resulting in more customers.”
Flemingo will open its newly branded stores at Kolkata, Amritsar and Goa by next month. The new unit at Trichy Airport has been operational since April 2016.
“By January 2017 stores with the new look will be operational at Jaipur, Lucknow, Calicut, Mangalore, and Ahmedabad at both arrival and departures,” adds Flemingo.
