Clogau goes for a spin with Jordan Design
By Kevin Rozario |
Welsh jewellery house Clogau is rolling out new floor-standing spinners at airports from early next year in response to retailer demand for self-select modules for jewellery at lower-price points ($99 to $199).
The brand asked London-based Jordan Design to create the units which it did from brief to final product in two weeks. Owner Ben Jordan says: “We were given a clear brief by Clogau – for example a cylindrical rather than square unit – to differentiate it from those of their competitors. The result is a very simple design with three independently spinning merchandising fixtures with no complicated lighting or mechanics.”
The 1.5m high circular standalone unit was designed and built to display 72 jewellery pieces. Clogau’s International Service Manager Aran Turner, comments: “We have experienced a lot of interest and we hope to start rolling them out in airports from early 2015. We look forward to ordering further units to display the Clogau brand domestically and in global travel retail over the coming months.”
In May 2014, Clogau partnered with Garry Stoner, director and owner of Insight Travel Retail Consultants. Insight-TRC specialises in bringing new brands into the sector and assisting those already in the industry to improve their performance.
Stoner, who has 25 years’ experience in travel retail including senior roles at Russ Berrie and distributor Scorpio Worldwide, says: “Clogau was looking for a self-select merchandising solution for its lower price point sterling silver and rose gold collections which, at the same time through the clever use of branding, communicates Clogau’s core heritage brand values. Jordan Design was able, very quickly, to come up with a space-efficient display that will engage the consumer.”
