Finnair takes GuestLogix’s tablet and POS systems

By Doug Newhouse |

Finnair has taken GuestLogix Inc’s new onboard android-based POS solution utilising Samsung tablets and GuestLogix’s payment peripherals to expand its onboard offer into food and beverage – as well as its duty free service. This agreement also exposes the system to an annual 9.6m passenger trips.

GuestLogix claims to be the leading global provider of ancillary-focused merchandising, payment and business intelligence technology to the passenger travel industry today and Brett Proud, President & CEO says customers like them.

“Flight Attendant-driven sales models that leverage smartphone and tablet retail technology have become increasingly popular and Finnair is now live with the most robust mobile POS technology available to the global passenger travel industry,” he said. “We look forward to continuing our relationship with the carrier and to further supporting its evolving retail initiatives.”

FULL PAYMENT SUPPORT TECHNOLOGY

The company adds that the ‘solution’ also includes full payment support for the world’s most popular in-flight entertainment and connectivity systems, as well as interaction with the company’s OnTouch Destination Merchandising platform.

As reported many times before, this gives travel operators access to more than 50,000 destination-based products and services across 450 cities to provide additional trip-enhancing retail offerings to passengers.

“Our objective is to continue to provide exceptional service to our passengers, increased efficiency to our dedicated crew and find new and meaningful ways to engage with those who make the choice to fly with Finnair,” said Timo Kousa, Managing Director, Arinkomatkat Oy and former Managing Director, Finnair Travel Retail.

“The industry is evolving rapidly and our partnership with GuestLogix gives us access to a myriad of new retail solutions, allowing us to stay ahead of the curve and support Finnair’s vision. Their tablet-based POS solution was clearly the right choice for us and we’re pleased with our decision.”
