Grupo Aeroportuario Del Pacífico has reported international traffic up +29.9% and an overall passenger increase of +22.5% in September at its 12 Mexican Airports, plus a separate +9.0% rise in its Montego Bay, Jamaica Airport operation in the same month.

 

Domestic passenger traffic rose by an impressive 20%, while international passenger traffic increased 29.9%. [Montego Bay contributed 208,000 passengers to GAP’s network, with an accumulated increase of +5.1% since January-Ed].

 

During the month of September, GAP’s airports registered a 13.2% increase in the number of seats compared to last year, while the load factor grew by 5.7% to 74.8%. New routes included Guadalajara to La Paz and Guadalajara to Los Cabos by AereoCalafia, and Guadalajara to San Jose, Costa Rica by Volaris.

 

 

New routes from Aguascalientes Airport included Monterrey, Puerto Vallarta and Tijuana, while Volaris contributed the largest number of additional seats in the international market on its routes to Los Angeles and Oakland.

 

Guadalajara Airport reported a positive balance in terms of growth levels in the domestic and international markets, recording the strongest September in its history. The international operation grew thanks to new routes, such as Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, Guatemala, New York and San Jose in Costa Rica.

 

Puerto Vallarta and Los Cabos also performed well domestically, while Tijuana’s 26.5% increase in September was the highest registered at the airport for the last eight years. GAP management commented: “On the one hand, the airlines are seeking to position themselves at this airport prior to the opening of the cross border bridge.

 

 

“Additionally, Tijuana has become an attractive option as a result of the dollar appreciation and the increase in ticket prices for international flights to Southern California. The load factor at this airport increased 1.8% compared to September 2014 to reach 74%.”

 

Last, but not least, Montego Bay Airport saw the number of aircraft seats available rise by 5.8%, as load factors grew by 1.7% to 78.4%.

 

GAP added: “We estimate that during November and December of 2015, Southwest will be initiating operations from Houston Hobby, American will initiate operations from Los Angeles, German Wings from Cologne, Condor from Frankfurt and Münich, and Thomas Cook will initiate operations from Guttenberg.”
