Strong, steady growth in 2016 for LSG’s Retail inMotion

Inflight retail, food and technology services provider Retail inMotion claims to have seen ‘outstanding sales growth’ in the areas of product sales, fully-outsourced onboard retail solutions and IT software solutions, in its first year as a fully-owned division of the Lufthansa LSG Group.
The Dublin-based company says it was able to secure 14 new contracts with customers over the past 12 months twelve months and it adds that sales of ‘proprietary products’ have risen significantly, citing the example of more than 2m Boxerchips and 6m beverages with SuprLids sold in 2016.
The company also offers full retail onboard programmes to its airline customers, having set up a new development team in Dallas, Texas to service the US American market, while it adds that it has also ‘taken major steps’ to further expand into Latin America, Asia and the Middle East.

As a player in the inflight onboard retail business supplying programmes and services to airlines, Retail inMotion has also gained a good reputation for its IT solution known as Vector, for which it claims to have received a very positive reaction from airlines, of which 30 are now customers.
The company said: “The online software suite has the functionality to control an airline’s complete, end-to-end retail process.
“It is customizable to customers’ needs, including functions like stock ordering, warehouse management, pre-order solutions, POS applications, payment gateway solutions, analytics and the ability to be fully integrated with customers’ existing IT systems.
Vector is now flown on nearly 10% of daily global air traffic and has processed around $1bn in sales.”
The LSG Group claims to be the world’s largest provider of onboard services which include onboard retail and entertainment, catering, onboard equipment and logistics, consulting and lounge services.
