The Armani catwalk smallQatar Duty Free has delivered yet again on its earlier promise to present some ground breaking spectacular events at Hamad International Airport, after transforming it into a full blown Giorgio Armani fashion show last Thursday – complete with six models strutting their stuff on the concourse.

Qatar Duty Free and Giorgio Armani held live two fashion shows on the day [October 1] to showcase the Giorgio Armani Autumn/Winter 2015/16 collection in the presence of specially invited guests and VIPs and arguably much more importantly, the airport’s passengers in the terminal and airport staff.

Qatar Duty Free Senior Vice President Keith Hunter and Giorgio Armani Worldwide Travel Retail Director Carla Guiducci were also present.

Not surprisingly this is the very first time that Giorgio Armani has held a fashion show in an airport where the models strutted their stuff from a standing start in Qatar Duty Free’s Giorgio Armani boutique, before taking the fashion and the attitude out to the passenger concourse.

The special event involved two 20-minute sessions both in the morning and in the afternoon at Hamad International Airport, which is the only airport in the Middle East to feature Giorgio Armani store.

The models and QDF were supported by Giorgio Armani’s stylists and make-up artists who also flew in specially from Milan to widen the appeal of the event substantially, offering passengers a personalised shopping experience, make overs, styling tips and advice across the designer’s fashion and make up collection.

L’Oréal trained make-up artists were also on hand to provide make-overs for passengers with Giorgio Armani cosmetics.

A delighted Keith Hunter, Senior Vice President of Qatar Duty Free said it is the successful partnership with Giorgio Armani that enabled the Middle East’s second largest duty free operator to deliver such a ‘fantastic’ live fashion event in HIA.

This provided invited special guests, journalists, bloggers and passengers with a preview of Armani’s very latest collection that is now simultaneously available at the 190sq m Giorgio Armani boutique located at QDF in the airport departure terminal.

Hunter said: “Last year Giorgio Armani selected Qatar Duty Free and HIA as the first airport in the Middle East to open a boutique.

“Today, this exclusive fashion event further underlines Giorgio Armani’s commitment to the market and supports Qatar Duty Free in achieving its ongoing ambition to provide global travellers with luxury brands and exciting and memorable shopping experiences that go beyond regular retail expectations.”
