Complete history of Penfolds Grange at Le Clos Dubai

By Caroline Sargent |

The most complete and unique collection of Penfolds Grange wines ever to go on sale is now available for AU$660,000 only at fine wine and luxury spirits retailer Le Clos, at Dubai International Airport.

The Penfolds Grange collection includes every vintage produced from 1951 to 2010, including the extremely rare Grange 1953 Cabernet Sauvignon, of which there are believed to be only a handful in the world; the ‘hidden vintages’ from 1957, 1958 and 1959; award-winning wines considered amongst the best in the world – the 1955, 1976, 1990 and 2008 – and the most recent 2010 Penfolds Grange, launched in October to mark the 60th consecutive release of the wine.

Using its expertise in bringing rare and unique products to market, Le Clos has designed a climate-controlled installation to highlight the fascinating story behind the Penfolds Grange for the first time outside of Australia, to appeal to global travellers from key markets such as China, Russia, US and the UK.

The retailer has also developed a microsite which details the historical timeline and story behind the range for customers to enjoy at the airport or online via the Le Clos website www.leclos.net.

Oliver Dixon, Head of Wine at Le Clos comments, “We are honoured to have the opportunity to bring such an iconic wine with global reverence to our customers travelling through Dubai International.

“Having such an iconic Australian wine will further strengthen our New World wine portfolio, and whether there is a customer interested in purchasing a piece of Australian wine history or whether they simply want to learn more, we know that this collection is going to be a huge draw for our customers from all over the world.”

Adds Peter Gago, Chief Winemaker, Penfolds, “We are delighted that Le Clos has curated the complete 60 years of Penfolds Grange vintages, comprising 61 bottles, and have now made it available to buy at the crossroads of the world in Dubai. With an established reputation for bringing rare and unique products to market, Le Clos is an ideal location to bring the Penfolds Grange story to global consumers.”
