DDF shows its generosity yet again at Irish Derby

Dubai Duty Free (DDF) is once again supporting children’s charities in the run up to this coming Saturday’s Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby – the 150th – at the Curragh Racecourse in Co. Kildare, Ireland.

The run up to the world-class event (sponsored by DDF since 2008) includes the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby Golf Classic this Thursday where four person teams get to play on the world famous Palmer Ryder Cup Course.

Then on the Friday night eve of the derby, there is a very worthy charity ball in aid of The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation at the KClub, Straffan in County Kildare which provides dedicated care and support for children with severe neurological issues.

In 2014, Dubai Duty Free’s very special black tie event raised an incredible €120,000 ($136,000) for The Jack & Jill Children’s Foundation, providing over 7,500 hours of home care for fragile babies and support for their parents.

The on the derby day itself, DDF is also sponsoring ‘The Best Dressed Lady Competition’ where the lucky victor will be presented with ‘the holiday of a lifetime to Dubai’ which will include five nights in The Jumeirah Creekside 5-star hotel owned by DDF, plus €1,000 ($1,135) spending money at Dubai Duty Free and all flights. A special diamond jewellery piece from Boodles and a luxurious overnight stay at The Marker Hotel in Dublin are also included.

As for the main Derby event itself, the world’s top horses and jockeys will be out in force as usual to compete over all three days of the Festival with the Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby attracting the crème de la crème of the equine world who will compete to win one of the ultimate accolades in Irish sport with €1.25m ($1.41m) in prize money.

Commenting, Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free said: “We are very excited about this year’s event – there is a huge amount to celebrate and to be proud of. We have been the title sponsors of the Irish Derby since 2008 and have worked hard to help build the festival into one of the premier social and sporting events of the year.

“It’s wonderful too, to be part of the glorious 150th celebrations and we are looking forward to a fantastic weekend of racing and entertainment.”
