Dubai sets discount days: 18-20 Dec

By Doug Newhouse |

Dubai Duty Free is running its famous special 25% discount days again this year between Dec 18-20 to mark its 31st anniversary celebration.

As in the past, this offers travellers the chance to benefit from a 25% discount across a wide range of merchandise, although this is the first year where DDF will run the promotion over three days and not two.

This will be available for all departing, transiting and arriving passengers at Dubai International Airport and at Al Maktoum International Airport – Dubai World Central.

The discount offer is set to begin at midnight on the 17 December and end at midnight on the 20 December.

Colm McLoughlin, Executive Vice Chairman of Dubai Duty Free commented: “We started this anniversary day promotion when we marked our 20th anniversary in 2003 and it is hard to believe that on the 20th of December we will mark 31 years in business.

MULTIPLE PROMOTIONAL ACTIVITIES

“We like to involve our customers, suppliers and staff in our celebrations as it is our way of saying thank you for helping us achieve such fantastic sales results over the years.”

As part of the Anniversary celebrations, DDF management says it will ensure that a party-like atmosphere prevails throughout the retail operation.

Plans are also in place to conduct a Millennium Millionaire draw, a Finest Surprise Luxury Car draw and a series of other promotional activities that will involve both travellers and staff.

DDF adds that it is expecting sales of $1.9bn this year, which is a far cry from the $20m it achieved in its first year in 1983 when annual sales stood at $20m.
