TRN opens new 2,400sq m duty free store in Oslo

UPDATED: Travel Retail Norway (TRN) opened its new 2,400sq m duty free departure shop at Avinor Oslo Airport on 1 December, bringing the number of departure stores to two and effectively more than doubling the previous space.
The new store offers new brand concepts such as ‘gifting’ and ‘Men’s World’, plus an enlarged range of Norwegian products.
In a statement, Avinor said: “Travellers at Oslo Airport will have a completely new and redesigned concept. The new departure shop, located at the new North Terminal takes the natural feel to a whole new level, with amongst other [things] fully grown trees inside the shop.
“Although the trees won’t be installed until early 2017, travellers will immediately see that they are shopping amongst large rock formations.”
Avinor says highlights in the store include the aforementioned designated ‘Men’s World’ with fragrances for men; a far wider female cosmetics range; more local and ecological products, a designated area for microbreweries and more Norwegian products.
The airport company added: “The new shop will be 2,400sq m, which is 500sq m larger than the size of the current store. The old shop was closed down today [1 December] for rebuilding. When it opens in 2017 there will be almost 5,000sq m of duty free departure shopping at Oslo Airport, 3,000sq m more than in the last years.”
TAKING THE CONCEPT FURTHER
“We are very excited and thrilled [about] taking the concept even further,” said Häkon Fjeld-Hansen. “We want our customers to have a harmonious shopping experience. We hope they will enjoy the time they spend with us shopping.”
Raoul Spanger, Executive Director Retail at Gebr. Heinemann added: “The outstanding and long lasting partnership between TRN and Gebr. Heinemann is based on close contact and commitment. We are happy to open this new departure shop in Oslo to our customers, since it will again contribute to the company’s further development and creates a new level of shopping experience that will exceed the Norwegian and international travellers’ expectations even more.”
