80+ stores in 13 airports join to honour Canadian veterans
By Doug Newhouse |
Paradies Lagardère is remembering Canada’s armed forces’ veterans this week with its very first philanthropic ‘Honors Remembrance Day’ (Nov 11), as it prepares to donate a percentage of sales this week (Nov 10-11) to the Royal Canadian Legion, with the help of more than 80 stores in 13 Canadian airports.
This Friday, the North American travel retail and food and beverage company will partner with several airports throughout Canada to honour those veterans that have served their country.
A VERY WORTHY CAUSE…
The Paradies Lagardère donation will be raised from sales made this Thursday and Friday and passed on to the Royal Canadian Legion’s Poppy Trust Fund. Through this body, the Royal Canadian Legion provides financial assistance and support to veterans, including the Canadian Armed Forces and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and their families.
The Poppy Trust Fund itself was set up to help support food and heating costs, clothing, prescription medication, medical appliances and equipment, essential home repairs, and emergency shelter.
PARTICIPATING AIRPORTS…
The Participating airports this year include the following: Toronto Pearson International; Montréal-Pierre Elliott Trudeau; Vancouver; Ottawa; Victoria; Québec City; Winnipeg; Calgary; Saskatoon John G. Diefenbaker; Edmonton; St. John’s; Greater Moncton; and Regina International Airport. Several participating retail outlets also include iStore, Brooks Brothers, the PGA TOUR Shops and RELAY.
Commenting on this very worthy initiative, Gregg Paradies, President and CEO, Paradies Lagardère said: “Paradies Lagardère is committed to providing support to military personnel in both the US and Canada.
“The Remembrance Day initiative in our Canadian airports, and our ongoing Treat Our Troops and Feed Our Troops programmes in our US airports are just small tokens of appreciation for the service and sacrifice those in the military make.”
