Calgary Airport opens 50 new retail spots at new terminal

This morning Calgary Airport is welcoming its first passengers to the new YYC International Terminal which boasts 50 new retail locations and two lounges, including duty free shops operated by Dufry-owned Nuance.
New shops include Hudson, Tim Hortons, as well as another Hudson Travel & Leisure store within the Check-in hall.
In the departures hall passengers will find A&W, Calgary Duty Free (Nuance), Desigual, Era Ageless, Lammie’s, Metalsmiths Sterling, Cococo/Chocolaterie Bernard Callebaut and Vin Room among others.
The new terminal also boasts many F&B outlets including ‘The Kitchen by Wolfgang Puck’ (US Departures Hall), Hana Sushi, Thai Express, Green Chilli and the Belgian Beer Café.
Calgary Airport Authority (CAA), which is a not-for-profit, non-share capital corporation, operates YYC and Springbank Airport (YBW), under a long-term lease from the Government of Canada.
In 2015, YYC welcomed 15.48m passengers, maintaining its status as one of Canada’s busiest airports.
ALBERTA’S ‘GATEWAY TO THE WORLD’
“With more than 250 passenger flights per day and service to 80 non-stop destinations, YYC is well positioned as Alberta’s gateway to the world,” says the airport authority.
The airport claims that it currently contributes approximately $8bn to the city’s GDP (about 10% of the economy) and supports 48,000 jobs.
Of the commercial offer at the airport CAA says: “At YYC Calgary International Airport, we work closely with our concessionaires to create a dynamic and friendly shopping and dining experience for our travelling public as well as for our 24,000 on-airport employees.
“Our extensive list of 185 shops and services includes a variety of concept brands and local flavours, a host of services that include health and wellness options, and retail locations to meet all of our guests’ shopping needs.”
