DFS offers ‘reinvented’ baijiu on US west coast

By Kevin Rozario |

ByeJoe USA, the first company to take baijiu – China’s most popular spirit – and revamp it for Western consumers, has been listed by DFS Group at its US west coast locations.

ByeJoe Red (40% ABV) and ByeJoe Dragon Fire (35% ABV) have been available since mid-December at DFS stores in San Francisco International (SFO) and Los Angeles International (LAX) airports.

The original spirit is hand-crafted in China from 100% red sorghum, then imported in small batches to the US where it undergoes natural filtration to produce an ultra-premium spirit that is gluten-free and Kosher.

“We are excited to offer the international traveller a contemporary version of a very traditional spirit,” comments Alberto Fariñez, Travel Retail Manager. ByeJoe USA,  headquartered in Houston, Texas, also claims it is the first baijiu to introduce flavour infusions with ByeJoe Dragon Fire which contains dragon fruit, lychee, and Szechuan hot chilies.

The brand was officially launched in Chinese New Year 2013, and achieved US national distribution in 2014.
