Grand Cayman Owen Roberts Airport plans to go to tender
By Doug Newhouse |
The Cayman Islands Airports Authority (CIAA) has announced that it is to hold an open tender for all of its retail space alongside the airport expansion and redevelopment project that is currently planned at Owen Roberts International Airport (ORIA).
The authority says that 17 spaces will be offered in separate tenders, with bidders permitted to make ‘separate’ offers for as many as they see fit.
MAXIMUM OF THREE CONCESSIONS PER BIDDER
However, all participants will be restricted to a maximum number of three concessions in total and no more than one in any one of the categories of F&B, Retail and Duty Free. Rents will be based on a percentages of revenue, along with guaranteed minimums.
Commenting, Airport Authority CEO Albert Anderson said: “We want to ensure we have a fair and open process for everyone interested in submitting a proposal, as we strive towards our ultimate vision of giving our passengers the best experience when travelling through the Owen Roberts International Airport.”
FINALISING THE CONCESSION DOCUMENTS
The authority adds that it is currently working on finalising the RFP which will be released to the public once the tender package is completed and approved. The ORIA terminal expansion and renovation project is expected to be completed in 2018.
The authority adds: “Any business with a license to trade in the Cayman Islands will be eligible to submit a tender. Eligible businesses, which are 60% or more Caymanian owned, will receive points in the tender evaluation process.
“Eligible businesses which are in good standing with the CIAA and currently operate a Food & Beverage, Retail or Duty Free store in ORIA will also receive points in the tender evaluation process.”
