Raleigh-Durham opens T2 retail/duty free RFP

Railey Durham AirportNorth Carolina’s Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority has published a ‘notice to proposers’ document, outlining its RFP for duty free, news and gift and specialty retail concessions at Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s Terminal 2.

 

The airport’s 89-page T2 RFP document explains that Terminal 2 is the westerly most passenger terminal consisting of around 862,434sq ft with 33 aircraft gates, with the main airlines consisting of American, Delta and United.

Last year approximately 3,861,571 departing passengers used T2 and in June 2016, the number was ‘approximately 746,768’.

 

10-YEAR CONCESSION PACKAGE

The term of the concession split into three packages  is 10 years with the final evaluation set for 19 October 2016, Board Approval scheduled for January 18 and the date of commencement tabled for 1 February 2017 (subject to change).

 

Multiple specialty shops currently operate in T2, including EJE Retail – Duty Free which generated duty free sales of $164,500 last year, paying $23,030 in rent. It also sold a total of $112,333-worth of duty paid goods off a rent of $15,726.

Other stores currently operating in Terminal 2 include: CNBC; PGA Tour; Hudson (x5), Benefit, Best Buy and more.

 

CONFERENCE ON AUGUST 19

A pre-proposal conference has been scheduled for 19 August 2016 at 9:00am in the Administrative Offices of the Airport Authority at 1000 Trade Drive, RDU Airport, NC 27623.

 

In addition, the airport authority is asking all bidders to submit their proposals by 1500 on 16 September 2016 to the Administrative Offices of the Authority.
