San Francisco tenders new specialty retail store

By Doug Newhouse |

San Francisco International Airport is accepting offers for a five-year International Terminal specialty retail store lease – in addition to the recently publicised specialty retail and multiple F&B contracts.

The new non-exclusive specialty retail contract – which includes three one-year options at the discretion of the Airport Commission  – comprises one pre-security location of around 2,233sq ft in the International Terminal and carries a minimum first year annual minimum guarantee of $110,000.00.

The store can represent any specialty retail concept except those selling electronics, candy/confectionery or news. In a statement, the Airport Commission City and County of San Francisco says it aims to award the new contract ‘to the highest-ranked, most responsive and responsible proposer’ – provided the bidding business entity can historically demonstrate annual gross sales of $500,000 within its existing business.

All bidders are also required to provide guarantees relating to proposal deposits of $55,000.00 in the form of a cashier’s cheque, a surety bond, or an irrevocable letter of credit in its original form.

The proposal submittal deadline is 5:00pm PST Wednesday September 16, 2015 with the Airport Commission estimating it will identify the winning proposal on – or around – Friday October 9 and award the contract on Tuesday October 20.

Retailers who attended the earlier pre-bid conference (July 1, 2015) which covered both the International Terminal Specialty Retail Store Lease and the separate T3 Retail Marketplace Lease [reported earlier-Ed] were numerous and included: Capital One; Delaware North; DFS Group; Hudson Group; NewsLink; Pacific Gateway Concessions; Palazzo Concessions; Paradies; RDG Concessions; SkylineConcessions; WDFG; and others.

The specialty retail contract evaluation and selection criteria – according to the Airport Commission City and County of San Francisco.
