The Ralph Beckett trained Westover galloped to victory in the hands of jockey Colin Keane at the 15th Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, which took place on Saturday 25 June at the Curragh Racecourse in Co. Kildare, Ireland.

The Dubai Duty Free sponsored Irish Derby is the feature event of the annual horse racing festival, which attracts some of the best horses, jockeys and trainers to compete for derby glory.

The trophies were presented to the winning connections (pictured right) of Barry Mahon, Juddmonte’s general manager of Ireland and European racing, trainer Ralph Beckett and jockey Colin Keane by Dubai Duty Free Executive Vice Chairman & CEO, Colm McLoughlin and Sinead El Sibai, SVP – Marketing, along with H.E. Mohammed Hamda Al Shamsi, UAE Ambassador to Ireland.

“I would like to offer my huge congratulations to the winning connections and also to compliment The Curragh Racecourse on the wonderful facility,” said Executive Vice Chairman and CEO of Dubai Duty Free, Colm McLoughlin.

“The new Aga Khan Stand is very impressive. This is the 15th Dubai Duty Free Irish Derby, however we have been involved with the Curragh for 21 years now.

“We are delighted to be the title sponsor of this prestigious race and thoroughly enjoyed the action and excitement of the festival.”

On top of all the thrilling horse racing action, the festival and derby day are filled with fashion and fun.

This year’s Dubai Duty Free Most Stylish Man and Lady in association with The K Club was a hotly contested affair.

Olive Foley from Co. Clare and Harry Cowap from Bornmouth were crowned the winners (pictured left).

The style awards were judged by a four-strong panel of tastemakers: Breeda McLoughlin, wife of Colm McLoughlin; Dubai Duty Free Fashion and Lifestyle Ambassador, Bairbre Powe; impressionist Doireann Garrihy; and Olympian, Greg O Shea.
