Social media promotion for Manchester Airport and Etihad Airways

Etihad Airways launched a social media promotion in Manchester in collaboration with the Capital One Cup which gave passengers the chance to win a trip to Abu Dhabi, the airline’s home city. The air carrier teamed up with Manchester Airport and Manchester City FC, inviting participants to #EtihadHunt on 18 April 2014.

 

Participants signed up to an app on Facebook and on Good Friday were given clues that led them to three secret locations in Manchester. At each stage they were asked to complete a task and those succeeded went into a draw to win a holiday to Abu Dhabi.

 

Clive Wratten, UK general manager, Etihad Airways, says: “Manchester is an important destination for Etihad Airways, and it’s great to work with such excellent partners such as Manchester City FC and Manchester Airport.”

 

Jeff Howarth Marketing Director at Manchester Airports Group (MAG) said: “We are pleased to be supporting Etihad’s social media treasure hunt across Manchester. We’re keen to engage more in the social media space and keen to promote more interaction amongst all of our fans and followers. Etihad Airways are one of our biggest airlines with a double daily service to their Abu Dhabi hub and beyond, they already have strong links to the Manchester community through their sponsorship of Manchester City FC.”
