Travel Blue is unveiling fire-resistant pouches for power banks at TFWA Cannes.

Travel essentials expert Travel Blue is set to unveil new fire-resistant pouches for power banks at the TFWA World Exhibition in Cannes. 

The pouches are designed to provide protection from thermal runaway of lithium battery-powered recharging devices.

In the case of a power bank incident when a lithium battery fails, the pouches help contain fumes, heat and sparks, and control risk, by preventing flames from igniting other items in carry-on baggage.

The Travel Blue fire-resistant pouch has passed rigorous safety tests and is certified to the highest standards, according to the firm.

Airtight and sealed with fireproof stitching, the Travel Blue power bank pouch, available in black or silver, is priced at €17.90.

“Travellers are flying with more lithium battery-powered devices than ever and power banks are becoming a travel essential,” said Travel Blue Managing Director Daniel Levin.

“Passenger safety is everyone’s number one concern. The new Travel Blue fire-resistant pouches reassure travellers, allowing them to relax on their flight, enjoy in-flight entertainment and sleep without anxiety.”

An IATA passenger survey found that 83% carry a phone, 60% bring a laptop and 44% travel with a power bank.

As such, strict inflight safety rules are in place to help protect passengers, such as only carrying portable chargers in hand luggage and no recharging permitted during a flight.
