Henkell Freixenet and Avolta bring festive sparkle to Barcelona Airport
By Trbusiness Editor |
Sparkling wine specialist Henkell Freixenet has partnered with Avolta to create an activation at Josep Tarradellas Barcelona-El Prat Airport. The event went live at the end of October and is running until 7 January 2026.
Covering 17sq m within Avolta’s T1 store, the activation features a tasting bar and three product displays showcasing Freixenet’s signature sparkling wines, including Freixenet Prosecco, Freixenet Cordon Negro, and the Freixenet French Cuvées Royal range.
Travellers are invited to sample the portfolio and explore the brand’s gifting concept, centred around a ribbon personalisation station. Here, shoppers can customise their bottle purchases with a ribbon and a short message – such as a name, date, or destination – to elevate the gifting experience.
“We’re excited to launch our latest brand activation in partnership with Avolta, bringing the spirit of Freixenet to one of Europe’s most vibrant travel hubs at Barcelona airport,” noted Henkell Freixenet Head of GTR Sales Ramon Olive.
“This year, our spotlight shines on Freixenet Prosecco, presented in its unmistakable Diamond bottle, a symbol of elegance and modern Italian style that continues to captivate consumers all around the world.”
He continued: “Airports are gateways to discovery, and we know that travellers are especially open to exploring new tastes and experiences. That’s why activations like this are so important: they allow us to connect with global audiences in meaningful and memorable ways, right at the crossroads of their journeys.”

The T1 space showcases Freixenet’s signature sparkling wine portfolio, including Freixenet Prosecco and Freixenet Cordon Negro.
Avolta Global Head of Liquor David de Miguel commented: “We love turning travel time into a memorable part of the journey and this new Freixenet activation does just that. With tastings in-store and the unique gifting element, through this collaboration we’re helping to make the festive season feel that bit more special for passengers.”
In other news, Freixenet sparkling wines are now available onboard Air Europa flights. “This partnership marks a significant milestone for our brand,” Olive explained. “As market leader, we seized the opportunity to offer travellers a new sparkling experience during their flight and we’re confident that this will boost brand visibility and encourage product trial among a wide audience.”
