Rémy Cointreau appoints Annabelle Chung as Travel Retail MD APAC
By Trbusiness Editor |
Rémy Cointreau has named Annabelle Chung Global Travel Retail Managing Director Asia Pacific, effective 23 March.
Based in Singapore, Chung will oversee the group’s travel retail operations across Asia Pacific. She is charged with accelerating the development of Rémy Cointreau’s portfolio of spirits, while strengthening the company’s strategic partnerships across key markets and airports in the region.
Chung has more than 15 years of international experience across Europe and Asia. She joins Rémy Cointreau from Lagardère Travel Retail, where she most recently served as EVP Merchandising & Commercial Asia Pacific.
In this role, she led the development of the company’s regional commercial and purchasing strategy across key markets including Japan, Hainan, Singapore, Cambodia and New Zealand.
She also spearheaded the creation of Lagardère Travel Retail’s APAC regional office in Singapore, implementing a new governance model and regional operating structure, while managing strategic brand partnerships and complex multi-market negotiations with global suppliers.
Throughout her career at Lagardère Travel Retail, Chung held several senior leadership roles across Europe and Asia, including Senior Director of Merchandising for North Asia, based in China, as well as leadership positions overseeing duty free retail development in France. Earlier in her career, Chung held finance and strategy roles with L’Oréal, where she developed strong expertise in the beauty and luxury sectors.
Rémy Cointreau Global Travel Retail CEO Fida Bou Chabke noted: “Annabelle brings a rare combination of deep travel retail expertise, strong commercial leadership and extensive experience across Asia and Europe. Her understanding of the regional ecosystem and her ability to build strategic partnerships will be invaluable as we continue to accelerate our development across Asia Pacific.”
Chung added: “I am delighted to join Rémy Cointreau and the wider spirits industry in travel retail Asia Pacific. The region continues to represent tremendous opportunities for premiumisation and brand building.
“I look forward to working with the teams and partners across the region to further strengthen the group’s presence and bring our exceptional portfolio of brands closer to consumers. I am also grateful to the remarkable leaders who have supported and guided me, helping shape my leadership journey.”
