ACI creates new ‘Small Airports Network’

Airports Council International (ACI) Asia-Pacific reports that it is proud to announce the creation of the ‘Small Airports Network’ which has been formed to provide a voice for smaller airports in the region to address common concerns, exchange ideas, experiences and best practices.
Maggie Kwok, Regional Director of ACI Asia-Pacific said: “I wish to thank the support of our airport members in the formation of the Small Airports Network. Approximately 20% of our members in the region can be classified as small airports and it is often through exchange of experiences and best practices that we can help our members to improve and tackle challenges.
‘ACCESSIBLE PLATFORM’
“The formation of the network will provide an easily accessible platform for our members to share their experiences through regular communications. Network members will also meet annually in conjunction with the annual Small Airports Seminar.”
The first ACI Asia-Pacific Small Airports Network was formed after the 7th ACI Asia-Pacific Small Airports Seminar, which was held on June 3, 2011 in Incheon, Korea. At the inaugural Network meeting, the Chairman and Vice Chairs were elected.
Mr. P.S. Nair, Ceo Corporate, Airports Sector, GMR Group, India was elected as the Chairman of the network. Nair has over 37 years’ experience in airport sector in both public and private domains and was recently elected as a Director of the ACI Asia-Pacific Regional Board.
Mrs. Mary Torres, Executive Manager, A.B. Won Pat International Airport Authority, Guam and Mr. Robert D. Waloni, Director, Commercial & Business Development, PT (Persero) Angkasa Pura I, Indonesia were also elected as the 1st and 2nd Vice Chair of the network respectively.
