AirAsia travelmall adds duty free pre-order with inflight fulfilment option

The duty free platform aims to offer ‘greater flexibility and convenience’ alongside attractive deals over a wider range of products.

Malaysian low-cost carrier AirAsia’s online duty free shopping platform airasia travelmall by airasia Super App has introduced a new service and discount promotions as international flights revive.

Users can click on the ‘travelmall’ icon before their flight to browse from a range of skincare, fragrance, fashion, gadget and beverage brands.

They can pre-book duty free items for delivery to their seat inflight. An airport pick-up option is ‘coming soon’, confirms AirAsia.

Rose Lam, Head of airasia travelmall, said: “As we are looking at the steady resumption of international flights across the AirAsia network back to pre-pandemic capacity, there is also an increasing demand in duty free shopping among those travelling internationally.

“Our new feature allows guests to pre-plan their duty-free shopping by purchasing at least 48 hours before they fly on any international flights from Malaysia. This allows them to save time without rushing for shopping before their flights, and even baggage space as their duty free purchase can be delivered right to their seat inflight instead.”

NEW PARTNERSHIPS FORGED

As reported, those travelling to Malaysia’s archipelago Langkawi also have the option to have duty free items sent to their hotel or at a store for pickup.

The duty free platform aims to offer ‘greater flexibility and convenience’ alongside attractive deals over a wider range of products.

To support the launch of the new feature, airasia travelmall has announced a series of partnerships with leading international and local duty free retailers such as Heinemann Duty Free, Chocolate Box, Jet.Set.Go, FlamenCo, Delicacies of Malaysia, Sprint-Cass, J&S Duty Free and more.

“AirAsia travelmall would like to express our warm welcome to our new partners as we embark on this exciting digital transformation journey with them,” added Lam.

“As the pandemic has proven the importance of digital marketing across the travel and tourism industry, we appreciate their trust to make the airasia travelmall their platform of choice to market and sell their duty free products online.

“We also hope to attract more brands across the region as we soar higher and revolutionise the online duty free shopping experience.”

Members can earn AirAsia points on all purchases via the airasia Super App – from flights to hotel stays and lifestyle deals.

The points can be redeemed for complimentary flights, hotel stays, groceries and lifestyle deals with exclusive partners.

To mark the launch of travelmall’s uprated features and new partnerships, app and online users with international flight bookings can avail of discounts of up to 60% on selected duty free items, plus an additional RM80/$18 discount with promo code TMDUTY80 during checkout, available until 30 June.
