Andaman initiative raises Bht.12m

A duty free shopping scheme launched by the Thai Government aimed at supporting post tsunami tourism in the Andaman areas of Phuket Phang-Nga and Krabi, has raised more than Bht.12m ($294,179) according to the Director

of the Phuket Tourism Sports and Recreation Office, Phromchote Trivet. Speaking to local press, he said more than 3,000 shoppers have taken advantage of the scheme which allows Thai tourists visiting the three provinces of Phuket, Phang-Nga and Krabi a limited duty free allowance.
