Auckland Airport’s Lucy Thomas joins APTRA Board; replaces MEL’s Gardiner
By Andrew Pentol |
The Asia Pacific Travel Retail Association (APTRA) has welcomed Auckland Airport as a new board member. The airport is represented by Lucy Thomas, Head of Retail.
One of New Zealand’s largest public listed businesses, Auckland is one of only a few airports to have an advanced digital retail strategy. This is operated through its online airport duty/tax free retailer ‘mall’ model.
The appointment of Auckland Airport and Thomas replaces Melbourne Airport and Andrew Gardiner who stepped down last month.
Other recent appointments include Distell International, with personal representation from Luke Maga, Managing Director, Global Travel Retail and Delhi Duty Free, represented by Philip Eckles, CEO.
Sunil Tuli, President, APTRA said: “Auckland Airport and Lucy are very welcome additions to the APTRA board. As the airport’s Head of Retail, Lucy brings invaluable experience and perspective in understanding solutions to the current challenges facing the industry alongside her personal knowledge in terms of the new retail thinking and strategies that Auckland Airport is renowned for.
“I’d like to thank Lucy and Auckland Airport for nominating themselves to contribute and be part of the APTRA Board.”
