Auckland traffic decline

Auckland International Airport (AIAL) has reported that its international arriving passenger numbers were down by 5.2% to 215,879 in the month of June, while international departures also fell by 3.3% to 234,655 with the decline

blamed mainly on less arrivals from China (-49.7%), Japan (-62.1%) and Korea (-42.7%).

However, there was a 14.3% increase in the number of arrivals from Australia bringing the year to date increase in this segment up 7.1%.

For those who are interested, the top 10 arriving nationalities in June came from the following countries: New Zealand (119,484); Australia (42,254); US (10,750); UK (7,737); Korea (2,665); China (2,552); Japan (2,306); India (1,772); Canada 1,644); and Fiji (1,493).
